Uniting exchange students through sports
By 2025, ESN will be the global network of the Erasmus Generation, committed to improving international education and providing self-development opportunities to two million young people, fostering intercultural understanding and creating positive change in society.
We will empower future, current and alumni international students to be ambassadors of intercultural understanding and active citizenship, sharing the value of unity in diversity.
We will work to increase the quantity and quality of study abroad programmes around the world.
Our activities and services aim to increase in quality, becoming more inclusive and achieving measurable impact in society.
We will provide our volunteers with valuable transversal skills acquired through self-development opportunities and empower them for active engagement in the organisation.
We will work to build a globally recognisable brand, increasing its visibility and outreach, and fostering a positive image of international exchange.
We will work to create an interconnected and independent network, with a strong membership and efficient structure.
Founded in 1989, ESN has become one of the largest student associations with over 500 local sections across 42 countries. Through our 15,000 volunteers, we provide direct support to more than 350,000 exchange students every year.
We work for the creation of a more mobile and flexible education environment by supporting and developing student exchange as well as providing an intercultural experience also to those who cannot access a period abroad (internationalisation at home).
Our mission is the enrichment of society through international students.
The Erasmus Generation actively engages with its local community through a variety of initiatives and activities, enriching society by connecting international exchange students with their local host communities.
Erasmus students take part in local activities organised by ESN volunteers with a focus on 6 different areas: education & youth, social inclusion, culture, health & well-being, environmental sustainability and skills & employability.
